Exporting .STL files from AutoCAD

Step 1: Open your file in Auto CAD.

Step 2: By using the (view) toolbar select any (isometric) view to make sure your objects are 3 dimensional.
Step 3: Click on the FILE drop down menu and choose EXPORT

Step 4: The EXPORT DATA menu will open.

  1. Choose the I:\ drive from the save in drop down menu
  2. Give a recognizable name to your file.
  3. Choose LITHOGRAPHY .STL from the files of type drop down menu.
  4. Press Save
  5. Select the objects you want to export.
  6. Press enter.

Step 5: Double click on MY COMPUTER. Double click on the I:\ drive. Locate the .stl file you are sending.

Step 6: Double click on MY COMPUTER. Double click on the S: drive. Double click the ORGS folder. Double click the DIGITAL WORKSHOP folder.

Step 7: Drag the .stl file you want from your I:\ drive into the 3-D PRINTER DROP BOX folder located on the S:\ drive.

Step 8: Fill out 3d printer request form online, print it, and turn it into the staff in room 52 Crosby.
