Exporting a .stl File from 3DS Max 7

Step 1: Open your file in 3ds Max 7.
Step 2: Select the objects you want to export.
Step 3: Click on the FILE drop down menu and choose EXPORT.

Step 4: The SELECT FILE TO EXPORT menu will open.

  1. Choose the I:\ drive from the save in drop down menu
  2. Give a recognizable name to your file.
  3. Choose STEROLITHO .STL from the save as type drop down menu.
  4. Press Save.

Step 5: Export STL file menu will appear.

  1. Be sure BINAY is selected.
  2. SELECTED ONLY should be checked.
  3. Press OK

Step 6: Double click on MY COMPUTER. Double click on the I:\ drive. Locate the .stl file you are sending.

Step 7: Double click on MY COMPUTER. Double click on the S:\ drive. Double click the ORGS folder. Double click the DIGITAL WORKSHOP folder.

Step 8: Drag the .stl file you want from your I:\ drive into the 3-D PRINTER DROP BOX folder located on the S:\ drive.

Step 9: Fill out 3d printer request form online, print it, and turn it into the staff in room 52 Crosby.
