Creating rules in Central Email Management filter

In order to make email delivery to the new server as SPAM email-free as possible. Please complete the following steps exactly.

Step 1: Go to the web site:

http://mailcluster.acsu.buffalo.edu/filter.html

Enter your username. Click the Continue button.

Enter your password. Click the Continue button

Step 2: Welcome to the Central Email Management system. You can use this to manage your email filters and vacation rules.

This process is going to setup 4 distinct rules that will help Outlook's junk e-mail filters to eliminate a vast majority of the growing number of Spam emails out of the Inbox.

Scroll down and click on the Create a new filter radio button and click the Continue button.

Step 3: New Filter #1

Once you have clicked on the continue button from the previous step you will be presented with a long list of options with radio buttons.

For this first rule, click on the radio button next to: Filter Non-Western Character Sets then scroll down to the button of the page and click on the radio button next to Delete. Once both buttons have been pressed, click on the Create button at the bottom of the page.

You have now created the third rule and the page will go back to the first screen.

Step 4: Filter #2

For this second rule, click on the radio button next to: Filter messages that the Central Email virus scanner could not scan then scroll down to the button of the page and click on the radio button next to Delete. Once both buttons have been pressed, click on the Create button at the bottom of the page.

You have now created the second rule and the page will go back to the first screen.

Step 5: Filter #3

For this third rule, click on the radio button next to : Filter Potentially Executable Attachments then scroll down to the button of the page and click on the radio button next to Delete. Once both buttons have been pressed, click on the Create button at the bottom of the page.

You have now created the third rule and the page will go back to the first screen.

 

Step 6: Forward email

You must now setup the email forward for your account.

Go to Central Email Forwarding and follow the directions on setting up the forward for your email.

 

You are now ready to move on to reconfiguring Outlook to work with the new server:
