File Share and Internet Services Policy

The installation and use of all file sharing (P2P) software, personal web servers, FTP sites, email servers, or News on any system supported in the School of Architecture is strictly forbidding. These software packages not only pose a serious threat to the network's security, but also have been used to distribute copyrighted material to the internet. CIT, as well as a number of interested third parties are actively watching the network for these types of activates.

The software packages in question include but are not limited to:

  • Any Gnutella based software
    • Kazak, Kazaa Lite
    • Bearshare
    • Morpheus
    • DCC++
    • Limewire
    • ICQ
    • Freewire
  • Any FTP server software
  • Any email server software
  • Any internet news software
