School-Wide Computing Policies
- The computing facilities in the School of Architecture
and Planning are for the exclusive use of majors, faculty and staff within
the School and for non-major students taking courses offered by the School.
No outside users (i.e. friends, relatives, etc.) are allowed to use the
facilities at any time. Violators risk permanent suspension of computing
privileges.
- All School PC systems require login names to gain access
to the computers. Continuing academic registration in the School
is required for accounts to remain active.
- An allotment for laser printing output is allocated to
all users and maintained by the server system. Small and large sized color
are available in a variety of options at an additional charge. Details about
plotting/printing options are available in the Media
Services rooms located in Hayes and Crosby Hall.
- Weekly lab hours will be posted near all major lab doors
and will be strictly enforced. Some classes use computing as an integral
part of the course work. During these classes, the equipment used for the
class will be unavailable to all users not in the class. Scheduled classes
in the labs will be posted on the weekly schedule.
- Students may work after the stated lab hours. Students
agree to accept full responsibility for the facilities during this usage.
When working late at night, we advise all users to work with a partner
to minimize security concerns and to keep all lab doors closed and locked
at all times. Any persons found to be disabling, bypassing or otherwise
circumventing security measures put in place for the Digital Media Group, will be reported to University public safety.
- Smoking is not allowed in any of the computing labs at
any time. However, it is high suggested that the use of food and drink around
the computing environment be careful and considerate of other lab environment
users.
- Questions relating to software packages should be directed
to the instructor and/or their course GA/TA using the particular software
package. General questions should be directed to the lab consultants located
in the labs.
- The computing facilities are to support the academic,
research and administrative activities of the students, faculty and staff
in the School of Architecture & Planning. Alumni and other non-School
users can not be accommodated on our existing equipment.
- Users are not allowed to install software in their accounts
or on any School of Architecture and Planning System.
- Any costs associated with the repair or replacement
of facilities and equipment damaged as a result of careless, irresponsible
or malicious acts will be assessed to the individual's) responsible.
