Introduction to shared storage (S:\ Drive)
![]() |
The S:\ (shared) drive is a shared network storage area for the entire school. It is divided into many sub-folders that access is controlled through permissions.
|
The shared drive is protected from loss that might occur from viruses, data corruption, and accidental deletion. When the storage limit is approached, no warning is issued; if the drive reaches capacity then all data on the drive is rendered READ-ONLY. NOTE: The storage of files which are in violation of copyright laws is not permitted on the share drive. This effects the following file types:
- all music formats (mp3, wmv, etc.)
- all executables (*.exe)
This section is intended to aide in the connection to the servers at the School of Architecture and Planning from ANY computer in ANY location.
Data retention note:
Data will remain available for one week after grades are submitted to the University. Thereafter, this material will be removed from the file server. Users are responsible for making personal copies of this material before this time.
