Sending Jobs to the CustomPlotter

Print to the custom plotter

Using the Customplotter is different than using any of the other plotters available in the print labs because of the different paper types available do not automatically load.

Here is how you send you jobs:

1. Select the CustomPlotter or CustomplotterPS.

2. Set up the page size and orientation as if it were any of the other plotters.

3. Click the print button.

Print to file

When you click the print button, the Print to file window will appear.

1. Enter a location and name for the file. Make sure to point the file to go to your I:\ drive. Any other location will not work properly. Also remember that the I:\ drive must have enough space available for the print job to be saved there. Even though the print file NAME appears on your I:\ drive doesn't mean that the print job completed successfully.

2. Remember to give it a name that you will remember easily.

Run the Plot spooler

Once the print job has completed, run the Custom Plot requester located under Start - Programs - Tools.

The program will launch.

1. Click Add plot.

Add a plot

2. Click on the "..." button in the Add HP5000 Plot window that appears.

3. Browse to the I:\ drive and select the file name that you specified in the directions above. Click OK.

4. Select from the drop down box, or select custom in the SIZE area. If you select Custom, DO NOT erase the numbers that appear in the Height and width boxes. It will cause the program to crash. Avoid this by typing over the numbers listed in the boxes.

5. Click the PROCESS button.

Ready to Spool the plot

You can repeat the above process up to 5 times.

When all of the plot files have been added, click the SPOOL Plot button.

Now that you have submitted the jobs, you must go to the staff member on duty in the Hayes print lab in order to request that the jobs be processed.
